The Bold Coast, Maine
I recently backpacked the Bold Coast in Maine; a quick, easy, and incredibly rewarding trip. I brought my camera along despite the added backpacking weight, and it did not disappoint.
Before reaching the Cutler Coast Public Reserved Land where we completed our short loop, we made a stop in Lubec, Maine, the easternmost town in the United States. It’s the first place in the country to see the sunrise! Lubec is small and full of charm. If you visit, make sure to stop by Monica’s Chocolates for some of the best chocolates I’ve ever had.
We completed the hike in early October 2025. The foliage was just past peak but still stunning, and the vast blueberry barrens had turned a stunning, brilliant red.
